I put 2+ years. I’ve dabbled a bit here and there. Maybe half a dozen scenes? But the spark just hasn’t been there in a long time.

Multisphere pressureposted in Rough and Rowdy
It seems there’s a shift towards single sphere or dual sphere games. The question is:
If in hindsight folks want 1-2 sphere games, why is there so much pressure on game makers to add X or Y or Z and push so hard for an outcome that will leave both players and game runners unhappy more often than not?

Nwod 2e vs owodposted in Rough and Rowdy
Someone asked for this thread and I’m curious to see if opinions on the systems have changed and thoughts on each for a MUSH specific environment.

$5 it was a HoneyBadger alt. CoH loves dropping bans on ‘female that didn’t lick HB’s chocolate starfish 24/7’.

@Cygnus Why is that one a hard pass?
It removes a lot of drama surrounding ‘so n so is out to get me and killed me in a PrP!’ or ‘they don’t know the rules and it HAs to be rolled back’ sort of things when not-staff are ST’ing. And it’s not hard to get a quick round of ‘hey, this is going to be rough, do you consent to what happens in the scene’ before a group gets going.

RE: Liberation Drama!?posted in Rough and Rowdy
I haven’t played there in well over a year, but the word is Sun’s awol For Reasons. The sweep it under and talk past is pretty typical - no one wants to actually give any sort of answer to anyone, while making themselves feel real good about cherry picking who they staff for (Siren, in this case).
The real, deeper problem is the steady cycle of putting in a request for something, staff saying ‘sit on this for a minute’, letting the job sit for the better part of a year - even if you poke it - then sweeping in and doing mass job closings.
Then when the plot takes a bad twist for the sphere, telling you that you should have done more, and staff tried… when you were told to wait. By staff.
It’s been swanning 'round the drain for a while. But everyone is silenced with threats of ban, character loss, etc, to keep them from sharing too much with others. And the silence is crippling in it’s own way.

JuJubeJD + Polk. Polk pulled the plug on them a while back when they got in a fight. Interesting it’s still up.

Didn’t VAS do like $40,000+ in damages to someone’s RL house and have some pretty big impacts along the same lines as their online crap?

RE: City of Shadows - Discussionposted in Game Gab
I was pinged re: the new gross post and didn’t recognize the older post, so I cleared both to be safe. I’m sort of stuck in the ‘I wanna but no spoons for peopling’ loop. Considering slowly reworking to m/m+ for a Supernatural level of game. The discord is still reasonably active with memes and banter, though. So the community is there, just no spoons to do the heavy lifting

RE: Staff Capacityposted in Game Gab
RfK’s backend was clunky and unwieldy, coupled with systems that were incredibly hands on and very intensive in needing one on one scenes. Not just +jobs and questions answered or resources earmarked for X amount of time. I remember Becca having to spend 1-2 DAYS just doing the spreading sheeting and record keeping for 1 week’s aspirations and getting the xp out for them manually. RfK was great, but some things were just done the hard way.

@somasatori Sure! Or pop on the discord and give me a poke. I can slap a sticker on a bit for you and point at storage objects for you to peek at.

@somasatori I have his ling code up and running if you want to peek at working code vs what you’re stumped on.

RE: Banningsposted in Rough and Rowdy
@GF I wonder if that sort of digs into something I’ve seen over the years. Different places bring out different traits. Maybe something in ‘MSB’ brought out that pedantic surliness? Maybe something here keeps it light and friendly? It’s more a half-formed thought than any kind of working theory. But what if we’re emotionally conditioned to associate X with Y, and so, like when the body revs up before someone does drugs, do we mentally ‘rev up’ in preparation to engage in specific forums/games/mental activities? So if we expect X at Y site, then we brace up and change our thinking. We attribute different tones, we’re comfortable snapping or snarking or frontloading personal attacks?
It HAS been interesting watching the community evolve from WORA to MSB to here (I missed SWOFA), where it’s laid back. I see growth and progress and maybe the community was just kind of ready to evolve and that was just the trigger?

@mietze I think this is just the ‘new crud’ going around. No energy, no ‘real’ symptoms of being sick, just no gas in the tank and a craving for soup.

RE: MU Peeves Threadposted in Rough and Rowdy
Or put in jobs or showed up to random call scenes? If people don’t put in jobs about things, I wind up kind of assuming those people aren’t that interested in getting involved with whatever is going on. I’m finding that it seems to be the same usual suspects doing the legwork.

RE: MU Peeves Threadposted in Rough and Rowdy
@Snackness I chalk a lot of it up to ‘burn out’ and ‘rl fucking sucks for a lot of people right now’. I tend to assume that people just don’t always have the oomph to try and snag randos, or they have the energy to hop on and chill, but not necessarily rp.
It can definitely make being pro-active feel more like a chore or depressing, but on the other side of the coin… everything is so hard right now. I feel like adding ‘pressure to perform’ is apt to make it worse, not better. I’ve gotten to where I toss out lil hits of xp when I see people out and rping to try and encourage that and reward the effort - cause sometimes it’s an effort to go out and find a place and make a scene happen.
