<![CDATA[What have you stolen?]]>I am an RP thief. If I notice that someone does something I like in their RP, I will steal it.

For instance: I always used to struggle with how to convey body language. I’d spend forever trying to describe a smile which I wanted to be read as cute but that’s really difficult via text. Then I started playing a lot with @helvetica and she would just pose “She smiles cutely.” I stole it, now I’ll just use the word of whatever I’m trying to convey. So if I ever smile cutely at you, thank helvetica.

And that is hyper-describe the tiny details, so long as the tiny-details are important to the vibe. All examples pulled from the fashionista, because that was the last character I came up with them for, and like… I’m lazy.

You do not arch an eyebrow. You arch a neatly trimmed, micro-bladed brow.

You do not use your hand. You use perfectly manicured fingers with the French tips.

You don’t just have makeup. You have flawlessly applied makeup… and also bring up the trouble you go through to make sure that lip gloss always looks super glossy!

This not only pads out your poses without adding a whole heck of a lot (so you get to big poses with less work, because I am laaaazy), but again… it helps give the VIBE of the character with equally minimal work. And since you are going to repeat it, it helps remind YOU of the vibe!

AND I STOLE THE WHOLE POSE METHOD/CONCEPT, because I am an imposter, fooling you all! YOU FOOL!

I’ve never had anyone call me out on it, but I’ve definitely looked back at some of my posts and thought, “Oh my god, I can’t believe I wrote that.”

I also stole this and I only saw it used in RP once. I just get worried I’m putting too much talking text without expressing body language but if there’s too much description of body language there needs to be more talking but not too much talking so…

I know exactly who you stole this from. I did, too, although I usually flesh it out to something a little more like ‘she pauses for a beat’.

The word “vibes” infiltrated my own dialogue after I started playing a character who used it a lot. Fuck.

I’m also as sure that I’ve never done it consciously. I’ll just adapt something into my RP for some character and randomly get paged asking if I’m player of X from game Y.

I am WAY too self-conscious as a writer. The descs I would write for myself would be very boring and straight to the point. Write for someone else and you can make them HOT AS HELL and it’s NOT FOR YOU so NO ONE CAN SHAME YOU.
