YOU ARE RIGHT. When we permanently lock a thread, it will be a majority decision from the admin. And we’ll say it’s a decision from all of us and why we are making it.

If a thread DOES seem like it MIGHT need a cool down, then that will receive a temporary lock, which will ALSO be clearly called, but that is a decision that CAN be made by a single admin.

Locking threads should really be used very very sparingly and only in the event that rules are being egregiously broken. Let the community decide what threads to participate in, what threads not to, and what threads will inevitably die.

Yeah I feel this myself It made me a bit gun-shy about posting too much at first (though some of that it just not being active on a MU at the moment), though it’s been cool to see familiar names pop up and it’s definitely cathartic to laugh about it. There’s a happy medium we can all of us find in time.
