<p dir="auto">Alas, as is outlined in <a href="https://www.evennia.com/docs/latest/Howtos/Tutorial-Using-Arxcode.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc">the old tutorial</a>, Arxcode is maintained by the Arx folks and not by Evennia devs.</p>
<p dir="auto">I wrote that tutorial as a service back then when it made sense (and it did indeed easily install at the time, promise!) … but at this point I don’t think ArxCode has kept up with Evennia development (it was using an old Evennia version already when it was created, it’s even still on Python2).</p>
<p dir="auto">I’ll check in with Tehom if there are plans to update the tutorial (or Arxcode).</p>

<p dir="auto">There’s all kinds of potential implementations here, from total honor system, to a +request driven inventory system, to a full-fledged crafting system. You could also do a hybrid, like extending simpleinventory or the existing desc plugin without going full-bore crafting code.</p>

I considered using it to simulate crafting too but that The ‘money’ is connected to Luck. I didn’t look to hard on how easy/hard it would be to change its currency.</p>

The colors are supported, but if you wanted to restrict who could use them in a desc that would definitely require custom code. Or you could adopt the Simple Inventory plugin to track “crafted” items and do it on the honor system.</p>

<p dir="auto">It’s just geared more towards people who are already developers (especially Python), while Ares is geared towards people who are not developers at all. It’s a tradeoff of flexibility (Evennia can run pretty much anywhere, and let’s you build a lot more varied games) vs. simplicity (Ares is designed for a specific environment and is more of a pre-built LEGO castle rather than a pile of bricks).</p>
