Time was spent prowling for that log (finally! reptile section of pet store!! who knew!) and painting tiny tombstones (DnD miniatures) and sourcing lichen (internet).

My mother in NJ has tiger lilies that come back every year without much fussing. They bloom early-ish in spring, like March, and have been springing up every year since I was a kid, so I suspect they are low-maintenance perennials.
